Introduction

This is the story of the most incredible Being I have ever had the pleasure to know.  My teacher, my best friend,...my dog.

She was the sweetest creature you would ever want to meet.  I say creature because she was not just the sweetest dog, but the sweetest of any animal in the animal kingdom (of course that includes humans too).  She was not just the sweetest but the smartest.  As a friend once said "If half the human population were just half as smart as she was, the world would be a much better place."

I have had the pleasure, and still do, of sharing my life with an array of animals from the day I was born.  I have my mother to thank for that.  They have all given me so much pleasure.  They have all had so much to offer.  They have been my protectors, guardians, teachers, comforters, best friends, companions, and clowns when I needed it.  I could write books about them all and all that they have given me:  but this one is about a very special friend who recently shared her life with me and had to move on.  These stories are about Megan.

She was no ordinary dog.  She was not even an ordinary intelligent dog.  She was my life.  I had a dog before her, Prince, who I know was my Guardian Angel.  Megan was my mentor.  She was here to keep me on track and focused.  That was by no means an easy task.  Being human, of course, I thought I always knew better.  These stories are the lessons Megan taught me about myself and human nature, or rather human ego.  I was to learn over and over again, I didn't know best.  She did.
