About the Photographer
Legally blind since the age of 8, Jill Pearson has never let her limitations deter her from pursuing her passions. A native of South Florida, her lifelong love of animals and the natural world led her to obtain a Bachelors Degree in Biology at the University of Miami. Since then her skills and areas of expertise as an environmentalist have grown and expanded along with the sense of connectedness and joy she derives from nature. Her experiences have included canoeing (She is Red Cross Certified) in the Everglades and Biscayne Bay, kayaking in Glacier Bay in Alaska, backpacking in Alaska, Field Researcher in Animal Behavior radio-tracking Timber Wolves in Superior National Forest and studying mockingbirds at the University of Miami (which was published in the Animal Behaviour Journal). She has been an Environmental Educator for children and adults at Old Cutler Hammock Nature Center, The Charles Deering Estate at Cutler, Everglades National Park, The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center and Monkey Jungle. She has done Archaeological digs and surveys (published An Archaeological Survey and Assessment of the Charles Deering Estate Park), and is presently the Environmental Author for the Earth Council newsletter and website, Web Designer, and of course, Wildlife Photographer. In all those capacities she has maintained her one desire, preserving the natural world.

American Alligator
Matted
The American Alligator commands respect and a healthy distance. They have inhabited this Earth longer than humans. The stories they must have handed down. If you look closer he's smiling with his eyes.

Great Blue Heron
Matted
Great Blue Herons are beautiful birds especially in flight. This clever one sat by the water side waiting as this fish swam buy. He caught a couple while I was there.

This beautiful butterfly landed on a thistle bloom and posed quite nicely for me. This photo would bring some nice color to brighten any room.

Grace

Grace your walls with this beautiful White Heron. She's just caught a fish passing by in the water. If you look closely you can still see a drop of water on the tip of her bill.
